What is Indivisible?

The Indivisible movement is made up of thousands of community groups around the country, and is dedicated to preserving and promoting democracy for all and to building a fair and just society that meets the needs of all the people..

Indivisible Kensington is our local Indivisible group. We volunteer our time and energy to organize events and actions in our community consistent with progressive Indivisible principles.  We have a 6-person leadership team that helps plan and coordinate activities.  We work collaboratively with other Indivisibles and other progressive groups.

Our History

Indivisible began as an on-line guide written by Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin, two young Congressional staffers during the Obama administration, following the election of Donald Trump in 2016.  The guide explained how to pressure our elected representatives in Congress to effectively resist the Trump agenda.  The rest is, as they say, history.  Indivisible chapters cropped up in every state and every congressional district.  Today, Indivisible has grown into one of the major progressive organizations leading resistance to the Trump administration nationwide.

Indivisible Kensington began in 2017 and grew exponentially following the election of 2025.
