Yes on Prop 50:

We’re coming down to the wire. Election day is this Tuesday. Vote YES on Prop 50 and make sure you get your ballot in on time.  Remember, passage of this proposition is crucial in our fight against election rigging by the Trump administration; it is a response to Texas’s gerrymandering and a temporary move that allows Democrats a fighting chance at taking back the House in 2026.  

The Government Shut-Down: What You Can Do:

Support our local food banks: As you know, federal SNAP benefits end as of November 1. This means that many people in our community will not have enough money to feed themselves or their families and will have to find alternative sources of food support or go hungry. Local food banks already face high demand with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano serving approximately 350,000-550,000 people a month, and the Alameda 

County Community Food Bank, which distributes food through a large network of agency partners and programs, providing food for 1 million meals weekly. Please help the food banks respond to the increased need for services resulting from the refusal of the Republicans to negotiate a funding bill.

You can help by donating money, time or unopened food to eitherAlameda County Community Food Bank or the

 Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

Contact our Senators to urge them to hold steady: 

Thank our Senators for fighting to restore  Medicaid 

funding and extend the ACA tax credits and encourage them to stay the course.

On-going Threat of ICE Raids:

Although the threatened ICE raids last weekend were called off, there is continued ICE activity in the Bay area, and a major deployment may still occur. We need to stay prepared. You can sign up for Action Alerts from Bay Resistance and make note of the Rapid Response hotlines for each county that you can use to report any observed ICE activity. You can also get Know Your Rights training from a variety of local organizations. To get you started, follow this link to the trainings from Stand Together Contra Costa. We must protect the most vulnerable among us.

Panel on Medical Misinformation:  

Finally, attached is a flyer from our friends at Indivisible Tri-Valley about an event featuring speakers on medical misinformation. It will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, 1:30-3:00 on Zoom.
