Dear Indivisible Kensington,

May Day Strong is here! Please read this NOW so you know where things are happening and can come out to show your support for No Work, No School, No Shopping. This will be a real test of our strength and an important day to show our power to disrupt business as usual. We need this type of tactical escalation as long as ICE continues to terrorize our communities, Trump drags us into illegal and immoral wars, and the rich keep getting richer while everyday working people struggle to pay for gas, groceries, and basic healthcare. And, as Ezra Levin, the co-founder of Indivisible put it, it is the kind of peaceful action we’ll have to supercharge if Trump tries to sabotage the midterms.

SO, what can you do?

1. If you haven’t already, sign the May Day Strong pledge.
2. Attend one or more of the many rallies/demonstrations planned around the Bay. Check out this link for more information. We particularly recommend the events happening in Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco. But don’t forget some of the local, weekly demonstrations at El Cerrito Plaza (4:00 pm), Gilman and Santa Fe (5:00 pm) and College and Ashby (5:00 pm).
3. Ask a friend, or two friends, or three friends, to join you on Friday. We’re all in this together, and we need everybody.

House Party for Leila Staton, candidate for Iowa state assembly seat:

Meeting Leila in person was a treat. She’s a lovely, poised, and smart young woman with a clear sense of what Iowans need and want. And she has the determination to work to make things better. We raised $3,525, all while enjoying good food and drink and the energetic, convivial crowd. The cocktails were an extra treat! Thanks again to everybody who contributed to making this a fun, successful event.  

Coming Up: All Member Meeting to Prepare for the Midterms

Please hold the date, Tuesday, June 16, 7:00-8:30 pm. This meeting will take place at the Arlington Community Church, and we’ll hear about competitive races on both the national and state level and the various ways we can be involved. We’ll also focus on issues related to voter suppression.  

We all know what’s at stake with these elections: will Trump and his cronies be able to continue to rampage around the world and at home, ravaging the planet, and any progress that had been made towards justice, equality, inclusiveness, transparency, and international cooperation or will we take power and stop the slide into autocracy and corruption. So please, plan on attending the June meeting.
